Welcome to Super Happy Art Class!

I hope you enjoy looking at the wonderful artwork from Duchesne Academy Lower School. Lower School consists of girls, grades pre-k through fourth. Unfortunately I have not kept record of all the successful projects, but here is a good sampling. Check out the artwork by grade level, but realize that each activity can be used for multi-grades. van Gogh Sunflowers

Kindergarteners loved making these colorful sunflower paintings inspired by van Gogh. I gave them a vase template to trace and they went from there. We worked in steps to complete the work. First they traced the vase, then used a watercolor wash to paint the background and table. Next we used tempera to paint the vase. They could paint them however they wished. They painted the flowers next paying close attention to adding more than one color for the petals and centers. Last they added the green stems and leaves. The paintings looked amazing hanging and everyone was very impressed.
